SOLD Sunbeam Rapier Series III
1960 Two-tone blue, with matching interior that is 'like new'; including dash & dash top. 29,500 miles from new. New battery & four new tyres as well as new front discs & rear wheel cylinders. Car has a long MOT & has been very well looked after in its life, non-overdrive model. A couple of minus points, but nothing that can't be dealt with easily: primarilly the rear wheel arches are in need of some work & the N/S/F wing is fibreglass, but a steel one is available. A really sound car then available for £1950 (no offers please)

NEW Sunbeam Rapier Convertible Series III
Convertable Restoration Project. I started to restore this car many years ago, but never completed the task, and I now have to reluctantly admit that I never will. Hence the sale. The car is basically complete, and is a rare opportunity to acquire this sought-after model at this price range, but it does need a lot of work. Ideal for the right person. First registered 1961, the car comes complete with the original log book (the green continuation book, not the buff coloured one issued when new), a Rootes workshop manual, and an official Rootes parts list catalogue. Hi all Looking for parts for my newly acquired Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIa. Just a few bits that I initially need to get me going.
Rear number plate light, Boot lock, Washer bottle, Radiator cap, Carburettor air filter housing, Road wheel (15") Interior roof light, Carper set (green). Also any photos of an engine bay so as I can get my car looking as it should, someone in the past have moved things around.
NOT SO IMPORTANT. Repair panels for upper inside front wings? Chrome air vents for front of car Chrome number plate light plinth. Sunbeam Rapier Fastback
Two owners from new. V5 and some history, including the original bill of sale. It was first registered on 1st January 1973 and is tax free.The interior is black and has no rips or tears. The doors, bonnet and boot are rust free but will need inner and outer sills, and rear panel. The carburettors are missing. The centre section of the exhaust is brand new. To be sold with a few spares and bits and pieces. The chrome work is generally good. The car is not roadworthy and will need to be towed away. Sunbeam/Rootes parts
Four 13" white wheels, without tyres, to fit Series 5/6 Minx, Gazelle & Series 4/5 Rapier plus any other Series/Audax/Arrow Rootes car from the mid 1960s onwards. Also, 5th wheel, 13", but different 4-stud pattern, maybe Mercedes. One Series 5/6 Minx/Gazelle propshaft for standard manual gearbox. Worked perfectly well in my Gazelle but I've since fitted an overdrive 'box with shorter propshaft. I'm running out of space, so will have to scrap these if they don't go soon.I'm in Sussex, alternatively, I'll be at the National Rally on Sunday 22nd July, so could bring them with me.

Fastback part wanted
Headrests required for Fastback Rapier. I have imported a Fastback from New Zealand to Australia and for compliancing I need highback bucket seats. Another fastback I have has the seats with the holes there but not the removable headrests and I would prefer to keep original style seats in the car rather than sourcing aftermarket seats which don't suit the car. Colour is unimportant as the setas will be sprayed anyway.

WWK 1 Number plate
Transferable registration number WWK 1, this is from a Series II Rapier which took part in many rallies including RAC Lombard Monte Carlo rallies. Its best finishing place being fifth. The car at one point finished on its roof in a ditch and the only noticable damage was a crack in the window screen which was never repaired. A sign of how well these cars were built. It featured in the Castrol Year book of I think the year 1962.
I am offering it for transfer at £6700 ono.

Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIa
Around 1970/71, I owned a Series IIIa, Reg no. 892 WTB. This was the first car which, with the benefit of overdrive, enabled me to reach 100mph, quite a milestone for an 18 year old. I think it improbable that the car has survived but would be interested to know if anyone has any knowledge of it. I am at present undertaking restoration a Series IV, AUE 717B. I have some history for this car but would be interested to hear from any previous owners.

Sunbeam Rapier Series II
Please does anyone know what happened to UJF 470, she was a 1959 Series II in blue/black owned by my late father in Leicester from around 1966 to 1970. He sold it on to a friend who was known to run cars until they dropped to bits si it most likely went for scrap sometime in the 70's. However this is just on the off chance that someone may have rescued it or knows if it is still around. The car holds many happy childhood memories and I would love to see he again.

Tony. I have been reading your website with interest and wonder if through your club it may be possible to trace my old Rapier! If it still exists and has not been scrapped years ago. I owned the car from 1972 to 1974 and regret not keeping it, you know what it's like when you're 21 and just have to have something newer, so foolish, but hindsight is wonderful. 30ish years on I would like to revisit the joys of Rapier (or Humber Scepture) ownership and would love to have my original back. I attach the only photo I have of her.

Rally prepared Sunbeam Rapier 63 WPK
One of my motor club friends used to Rally a Rapier in the 1970's with some success in Motoring News events. His car was ex John Le Trobe and was prepared by Alan Fraser developments in Hildenborough near where we live in Tonbridge. I can remember seeing it and some photos Terry still has and it was a "works replica" with all the Demon Tweaks. Does anyone know if the car still exists?
