Here is my LHD 1971 Fastback automatic, which I’ve been driving for about a year now. It’s had a quick cosmetic respray to eliminate the bumps scratches and peeling paint and though not perfect I’m very pleased with it.
I’ve replaced many of the suspension parts to get rid of the numerous knocks and rumbles coming from the front end, set up the carbs correctly and fitted electronic ignition. I’ve done around 1,100kms
so far and find the ride to be very comfortable and it has the advantage of rear seat belts for my 2 teenage daughters even though they find the rear seats a bit ‘squashy’.
There are still a few minor niggles to sort out, like the fuel gauge not working, no screen washer, and unreliable indicators, but I’m enjoying it so far!

Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Welcome to the forum, nice looking car.I'm also in France (southern Brittany) with my SIV. The car attracts quite a lot of attention,as Rapiers of any model are a very rare sight here.

The colour is as close to Cedar green as the local paint shop could get, though it seems a slightly lighter shade than the photos I've seen of other cars. They had problems finding some original paint on the car as it must have had at least 2 previous resprays.
It certainly attracts attention, most people over here (I'm just east of Paris) have not only never seen a Rapier of any sort but have never even heard of it either. I was trying to educate the public at the Reims Classic car show last month on the French Rootes Club stand.

Also meant to say welcome to the Forum too Andrew. Car looks very well, unlike mine, but it is sound & also LHD, but never exported. A couple of photos from a trip to France in 2014 - preparing for the off & in the line-up at a local show I attended near to Chalus. I did 2750kms without any probs except a loose fan-belt.
Hope you can sort your niggly issues - all should be fairly easy to resolve. Cheers. G.
